BIOGRAPHY
Life is the sum of all your choices.
Albert Camus

I am a German-born American graduate engineer (Dipl.-Ing. Architektur) and amateur photographer, always searching for moments to capture.
For me, beauty lies in the individuality, authenticity, and imperfection of life. It is created by the unique reflection of the sun, the play of the clouds, and the unexpected. Beauty can be found in the tiniest creature or the lines of an old woman’s face, in a leaf reflecting the sun or the sea on a stormy night, in the oldest ramshackle hut as well as in the most daring and technically challenging skyscraper - and, for sure, everywhere in between. And this applies to every aspect of life...
It is the moment, the feeling, the view - never to be recreated, relived, “re”viewed - that I seek to catch and to cherish and be grateful for: the situations that make every life unlike any other, the moments that make our lives worth living.
I deliberately choose black-and-white photography in order to emphasize this beauty and those moments - the plasticity of form and detail, the interaction of light and shadow - just to focus on the essential. There is no Photoshop needed, no altering of a moment required, not even wanted, for such a change would be pretense and rob the moment of its distinctiveness, its originality, its very self.
